A lovely little Victorian fairing match striker in the form of a dog carrying a basket entitled "A Safe Messenger". Number incised to the base which suggests of German origin. There is a little bit of restoration to the tail and a small hairline to the back of the basket, commensurate with age and mentioned for complete accuracy otherwise in very good all original condition. 
Measuring 13 cm wide x 9.5 cm high approx
